A Leader who always RESTS…
-Benjienen S. Pulido-
Leadership is never by accident… it is planned and cultivated, so much more than an appointment.
Others told me I cannot serve two masters at the same time… but I’ve realized, I will only be serving One master, not at the SAME time… but TWOgether.
May 2007, I was commissioned as the NCF-SLC-NCR President, June 2007, I was elected as the SBO President. But of course, I am not a superwoman (although sometimes I think I might be)… but I am just His woman, with that prefix ‘SUPER’ known as GOD. Leadership then, becomes a commitment, something that runs in my blood vessels which will form a thrombus and consequently kill me if I won’t be practicing it the way it should be… remember in nursing care?... mobilization, that is.
I needed to temporarily let go of some responsibilities. Indeed, ‘time’ tells us the specific things we must do at the present moment because we can never do it again the way you could possibly do it ‘now’. Being a leader pushes you to your limits, because ‘being’ then stands not just for a title or a recognition that people may or may not give you… but it becomes a part of the whole you that you must live out.
I have lapses too… an ‘imperfect’ leader who had trusted her Master more because of the things she can do nothing about except to pray. What my ‘Tatay’ always tells me is right; ‘Responsibility begets Capacity’, you will never know how much you could do until you discover how much you cannot do.
I’ll no longer be a part of NCF-STUDENT Leader’s Council and STUDENT Body Organization, but I’ll always be a leader, what’s more important than that, is not just to be ‘called’... but to be ‘one’, for ONE Master. And most important lesson for me, a leader doesn’t rest, because you are not working in the first place, know why?... LOVE turns work into rest.
